NST: PMW breaks ground on RM43.8mil Perak plant to boost pile capacity

KUALA LUMPUR: PMW International Bhd has broken ground on a new RM43.76 million spun concrete pile manufacturing facility in Bemban, Perak, as part of its long-term expansion strategy to meet rising demand for infrastructure and foundation products.
The facility, which will be developed on about 4.86 hectares of industrial land in Kawasan Perindustrian Bemban, is expected to begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2027.
Upon completion, the plant will have a production capacity of 40,000 metric tonnes of spun concrete piles per month, lifting the group’s total annual production capacity to about 718,000 metric tonnes from the current 238,000 metric tonnes.
The project will become PMW’s fifth manufacturing facility in Ipoh and is expected to strengthen its ability to serve infrastructure, industrial and engineering projects across northern and central Peninsular Malaysia.
PMW’s wholly owned subsidiary, PMW Winabumi Sdn Bhd, also signed a letter of award with ECJ Construction Sdn Bhd for the plant’s main construction works.
Construction, valued at about RM14.2 million, is scheduled to begin today and is targeted for completion in the first quarter of 2027.
The project is being financed through a combination of internally generated funds and bank borrowings.
Maybank Islamic Bhd is providing banking facilities with an aggregate limit of RM54.5 million to support the facility’s development, including construction, machinery purchases, working capital and trade financing.
PMW executive director and chief executive officer Lee Hon Hwa said with the appointment of ECJ Construction and Maybank Islamic, the company established a strong foundation to bring the facility into operation and support its next phase of growth.
“The Bemban Facility will more than double our production capacity and operational flexibility, enabling us to better support customers across the transportation, utilities, telecommunications and industrial sectors.
“Together with our nationwide manufacturing footprint, we believe PMW is well-positioned to capitalise on Malaysia’s growing infrastructure investment pipeline and deliver sustainable long-term value for our shareholders,” he said.
