Strengthening Sarawak's Infrastructure: PMW Industries and Innocement Sdn Bhd Sign MoU

We are excited to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PMW Industries Sdn Bhd and Sarawak government-owned Innocement Sdn Bhd. This strategic partnership aims to secure a reliable supply of concrete poles & piles for infrastructure projects in Sarawak. The MoU signing ceremony, held on June 7 at Dewan Asajaya, Grand Margherita Hotel, was witnessed by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Innocement CEO Suhadi Sulaiman highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, “The main purpose of this MoU is to establish a manufacturing facility for concrete piles, poles, and related products to serve the Sarawak market. This initiative will also facilitate the transfer and sharing of knowledge, technological skills, and expertise through training and competence development of the local workforce.”
A joint committee will be formed to assess the feasibility and viability of the project, paving the way for a future joint venture agreement.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg emphasised the importance of a reliable and adequate supply of construction materials to ensure the timely completion of state government projects. He noted that delays could result in additional costs and negatively impact the lives of Sarawakians. The Premier highlighted Sarawak’s significant contribution to Malaysia’s construction industry, with plans to further develop infrastructure, including the Pan Borneo Highway, coastal highways, and major airport and port projects extending beyond 2030.
“By working together, we can support Sarawak’s aspiration to develop its infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for its people,” said Suhadi. “This MoU is a testament to our commitment to fostering innovation and growth in the construction industry.”
Mr. Lee Hon Hwa, Director of PMW Industries added, “As a leading concrete poles & piles manufacturer in Malaysia, we are committed to extending our presence in Sarawak to contribute to local development initiatives with locally sourced manpower and materials. We are confident that our forthcoming plant will play a pivotal role in contributing to the growth of Sarawak’s economic landscape.”
The strategic location of Tanjung Manis will serve as a gateway to central Sarawak, ensuring the new facility’s capacity to meet future demands. The initial annual capacity is set at 150,000 tonnes, with plans for expansion as required.
We are confident that this partnership will significantly contribute to Sarawak’s infrastructure and economy, creating opportunities for local workforce development and ensuring a resilient supply chain for construction materials.
