02 why precast

Why Precast Concrete Manholes for Telecommunication?

Every fibre optic and copper network needs safe, accessible junction points below ground. A telecommunication manhole houses cable joints, splice closures and slack loops — protecting them from traffic loading, ground movement and water ingress while giving technicians safe working access for maintenance and future upgrades.
Cast under factory-controlled conditions, precast concrete manholes deliver consistent strength and dimensional accuracy that cast-in-situ construction cannot match and they arrive on site ready to install, cutting excavation time and road closure duration.

Our Telecommunication Manhole Range

We manufacture two standard models: JB30 and JRC7 — each available with a choice of heavy-duty iron cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a telecommunication manhole used for?
A telecommunication manhole is an underground precast concrete chamber that houses cable joints, splice closures and duct entries. It gives technicians safe access to fibre optic and copper cables for installation, testing and maintenance without re-excavating the route.
Are PMW telecommunication manholes SIRIM approved?
Yes. Our telecommunication manholes carry SIRIM approval, giving contractors and telco operators independent assurance that the product meets the applicable Malaysian standard for specification on public infrastructure projects.
What is the difference between the JB30 and JRC7 manhole?
The JB30 is a square chamber measuring 950 × 950 mm externally with a 736 × 736 × 600 mm internal working space, suited to distribution-level access. The JRC7 is a larger rectangular chamber at 1200 × 900 mm externally with a 910 × 610 × 700 mm internal space, giving more room for multi-duct entries and larger splice enclosures.
How heavy is a precast concrete telecommunication manhole?
Our JB30 units weigh approximately 980 kg and JRC7 units between 1660 kg and 1700 kg depending on cover type. Lifting equipment is required for offloading and installation.
Which manhole cover should I specify?
MC3 square covers suit both JB30 and JRC7 chambers, 3E square covers are used on the reduced-height JB30 configuration, and 7E rectangular covers provide the largest opening on the JRC7. Selection depends on your access requirement and loading condition at the installation location.
Yes. Logo nameplates are available upon request for asset identification and maintenance tracking.
Where does PMW deliver telecommunication manholes?
We manufacture at Lahat, Perak and deliver throughout Peninsular Malaysia, with operational sites also in Sabah and Sarawak supporting East Malaysia projects.
