1981
In 1981, United Bakelite & Plastic Company (UBP) was incorporated, becoming the first in Malaysia to manufacture accessories specifically for pre-stressed spun concrete pole and pile production. This pioneering step laid the foundation for our expertise in the industry.
1992
In 1992, PMW Industries Sdn. Bhd. was officially established, specializing in mould and equipment manufacturing. That same year, we relocated to a new factory in Ipoh, which remains our headquarters today. This move marked the beginning of our journey toward industry leadership.
2004
PMW Group made history by producing Malaysia’s first 24-meter pre-stressed spun concrete monopole, setting a new standard in the industry. We also became a key supplier to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), marking a significant step in our growth and commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions.
2005
We built a new factory in Ipoh, Perak, in just three months. This facility became our first pre-stressed spun concrete pole manufacturing plant, equipped to produce a wide range of products, including 11KV and 33KV electric distribution poles, telecommunication towers, street lighting poles, decorative compound lighting poles, catenary poles for electric trains, and CCTV poles. This achievement marked a major milestone in expanding our manufacturing capabilities.
2006
In 2006, we expanded into East Malaysia by securing our first contract and establishing a factory in Sabah with a local partner under MSSB. Shortly after, we launched our second pre-stressed spun concrete pole manufacturing plant in Inanam, Sabah, specializing in 11KV and 33KV electric distribution poles. That same year, we partnered with Sky Cast Inc. from the USA to develop and supply straight tapered and decorative pole moulds for the North American market. Additionally, we were awarded a RM3.6 million contract to supply spun concrete masts for the Rawang-Ipoh double track project by Balfour Beatty Rail Sdn. Bhd.
2010
Since 2010, we have entered into a joint venture with a local partner in Balikpapan, Indonesia, focusing on the production of concrete poles for electric distribution, including 11KV and 33KV options. This collaboration has strengthened our market position and expanded our offerings in the region
2012
We established our third pre-stressed spun concrete pole plant in Sarawak, further solidifying our manufacturing footprint in East Malaysia
2014
In 2014, we successfully completed a RM28.9 million contract from TNB for telecommunication poles, underscoring our commitment to quality and reliability. That same year, we established our third pre-stressed spun concrete pole plant in KKIP, Sabah, enhancing our capacity to supply the regional market in Sabah.
2015
In 2015, we established a joint venture factory in Sumail, Oman, with Oman Poles LLC, focusing on serving the petroleum development sector for power distribution lines and the Distribution Code Review Panel (DCRP) project. This venture marked a significant step in our international expansion and commitment to meeting the specific needs of the region.
2016
We introduced the first Concrete Grade 80 products in Sabah, setting a new standard for quality and performance in the region’s construction industry. This innovation reflects our commitment to providing advanced solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients.
2022
We significantly upgraded our existing Ipoh plant, increasing daily production capacity from 300 to 660 poles. Additionally, we established our seventh pre-stressed spun concrete pole plant in Ipoh, capable of producing 240 concrete poles daily and 75 sets of monopoles monthly, further enhancing our manufacturing capabilities to meet growing demand.
2024
As market demands evolved, PMW Group recognized the need to diversify. We expanded into LED lighting, solar street lights, and smart lighting products, addressing the growing emphasis on energy efficiency and smart technology. This strategic expansion not only broadened our product portfolio but also reinforced our position as an industry leader committed to sustainability and innovation.
